Hemostasis in Upper Gastrointrstinal Bleeding with Topical Application of Thrombin through Endoscopy

Abstract
Upper gastroinfertinal Bleeding is a medical emergency which usually required inte sive care and non-invasive methods bave been developed to control the UGI Bleeding.
However, most of the methods have a lot of problems such as high cost, tissue injury and difficulties in techniques.
A new safe effective and non-invasive hemostatic procedure has been expected to be developed. We have studied to clarify hemostatic efficacy of topical application of thrombin through Endosogy in 12 UGI bleeding patients who had been admitted via ER sine 198 .
The results are as follows ;
1) The duration of UGI bleeding was remarkably shorter in thrombin group.
2) The amount of transfusion was also mush less in thrombin-group comparing ith non-thrombin group.
3) There were no changes in peripheral blood, blood coaguration factors and liver function before and after thrombin therapy.
4) There were no specific complication such as perforation and bleeding. Thrombin spray method using Endoscopy is thought to be safe, effective, easy method to control the GI bleeding.
